Ram Gopal Varma Blog #222. Reel-Real

Never in my career have I experienced this kind of a feeling as in when I am doing the final mixing of RC. The characters I have heard about from various sources over the years and most of who are dead and now for me to see them on the big screen in a cinematic spectacle complete with highly dramatic background score by Dharam-Sandeep and with enhanced sound effects by Debashish Mishra not to forget the extremely strong compositions of cinematographer Amol Rathod. It surely looks like those real characters have come out of the grave more alive than they ever were and with much more energy and virility than anyone ever thought that they had.

Yes their thoughts, their actions, and their emotions are highly exaggerated and that’s because cinema’s business is to exaggerate so as to heighten the emotional state of the viewer in the theatre. To this purpose everything about the film from its title to its posters to its promotional videos all should be employed for the same. Its only then that the reel will look real and the real will look very realistic.
